Baseball
is our passion. We want to prepare our players to be better ball players and to thrive as members of the community. Centerfield's
owners, coaches, and staff strive to carry out the vision Jack Perconte
had when he first opened the doors over 20 years ago. After Jack's
retirement 3 years, ago, his coaching staff, including head coach Mike
Trimarco, stayed an integral part of the Academy family. They were
invaluable in helping to make a smooth transition for the new owners
and their loyalty to Jack's values and principles has been infectious.
Here is our philosophy in a nutshell: We want to be more than just "that
place" where you drop your kid off for baseball or softball practice.
We want you to feel at home as soon as you walk through the doors, to feel like you are part of the Academy family and to remain a part of our family for years to come. Our coaches beam with pride as they watch their students progress through the years, going from a Little Leaguer barely able to hold up that heavy bat to that "all-smiles" high school senior going off to college on a baseball scholarship.
Our coaches live for baseball. They have played (several of them professionally) and taught the game for years. They remember what it
was like to be a young player first learning the game and they go out of
their way to make each kid they teach feel more like a family member
than a student. They encourage parents to participate in each lesson,
so parents can reinforce those skills taught once the student goes
home. Bleachers are set up for family members who want to observe their kid's practice from a distance. If
a sibling wants to swing a bat while big brother or sister is having a
lesson or team practice, we have automatic return batting cages
available at an affordable price. There's practice cages available
for a low price if a parent wants to toss a ball to those too young for
the automatic batting cages. We
also have a big screen TV with cable in our lounge area to
catch a ballgame on or to keep younger siblings occupied (Nickelodeon
is a popular choice). And when you enter, you are sure to get a warm
smile from the staff behind the desk, on the floor, and in our lesson
cages. We want to make baseball and softball fun for the whole family!
